When creating a new data source in Envisio, save yourself the time and effort of manually creating each column and use our new upload columns feature instead!
Start with a CSV file that includes the columns you'd like to create - with or without data in them - then simply upload that CSV file to create matching columns in Envisio.
Ensure your data is saved as a CSV files, no other file types are accepted.
- Create a new manual data source in Envisio or access an existing source
- Select the Data Integration
icon at the top right
- Manual Upload tab
On the upload tab:
- Choose your CSV file that you would like to upload to create your columns
- Select the Data Overwrite Option: If uploading to an existing data source with data in it ensure the 'Append' option is chosen for this process if the existing data needs to be preserved.
- Override Column Name from CSV File: This option is what creates the columns in your data source. When toggled on, the column names will be created based the column header. When toggled off, only the data will be uploaded.
Your CSV file must have at least one row with the column header labels defined. If you have a spreadsheet of data you'd like to import (for example, you've exported data from another platform), this functionality will allow for both column creation and data loading in one step. - Select the 'Upload' button
The upload will process will begin - Review and confirm your data imported correctly
Return to the data source screen by selecting the Data Integrationicon and review your data.
The columns (and data, if included) from your original CSV file will now be created in your Envisio data source. Note that all columns will be imported as Data Type = Text, so you will need to update the data types for any variations from that.
You can now work with your data source as usual!
