Have you had users come to you in the past and asked to restore plan elements they've deleted in error? These items can be restored from the trash with a few clicks. In addition to restoring plan elements, we've also provided the ability to permanently delete plan elements that you no longer need.
This feature is only available to system administrators and plan owners.
How to Delete Plan Element
Currently, any users who have the Edit permission on a plan element can delete the plan element. This includes system administrators, plan owners, and any users who own or contribute to any of the higher plan elements.
Here are the steps to delete the plan element:
- Navigate to View/Edit Plan
- Locate the plan element you'd like to delete either from the Map, or enter a search term in the Search bar.
- Click on the plan element which brings you into the Edit mode.
- Click on the 3 dots (More options) on the page header bar. Select Delete.
When deleting any higher plan elements, it will cascade delete all descending plan elements. If there are any lower level plan elements you do not wish to delete, we recommend you move them to a different planning node before deleting.
How to Restore Plan Element
System administrators and plan owners have the ability to restore deleted plan elements from Active and Planning mode plans.
Here are the steps to restore plan elements:
- Navigate to View/Edit Plan
- Switch to Trash view from Map drop-down.
- Plan elements can be restored one at a time. To restore the plan element, click on the Restore icon on the bottom strip of the card.
- To view your restored plan element, go to the Map view or search by description.
Rules on Restoring Plan Elements
When restoring plan elements:
- If the plan element being restored has descending items, you will have the option to restore all descending elements.
- When restoring one of the mid-level plan elements where associated higher level plan element exists, it will automatically restore the higher plan elements.
- If your plan is Archived, you'll be able to access the Trash view to see the list of deleted plan elements, but you will not be able to restore or permanently delete them.
- Restored plan elements will be placed at the end of that planning level, taking on a new plan number in the sequence.
How to Permanently Delete Plan Elements
To prevent accidental restore or if you're certain you don't need the deleted plan elements, you can Permanently Delete them. Plan elements can be permanently deleted individually or in bulk.
Here are the steps to permanently delete plan elements:
- Navigate to View/Edit Plan
- Switch to Trash view from Map drop-down.
- Mark the plan elements for permanent deletion by selecting the checkboxes to the left of each card. To select the entire plan level in Trash, click on Select All to the right of the plan level label.
- When at least one plan element is selected, the Permanently Delete button will be available. Click on it to permanently delete selected items.
When permanently deleting higher level plan elements, any associated descending plan elements in Trash will automatically be marked for deletion.
