How to Clone Data Source, Visual or Dashboard in Analytics

Envisio Analytics offers you the ability to easily clone your Data Source, Visual, and Dashboard. This can be helpful when you need to duplicate similar data sources for different regions or departments. Or you might want to use the same chart with a new set of data for the current year.

Tip
You can clone as long as you have access to the component. However, the options available during cloning will differ based on your access level to the underlying component.  

Steps to clone Data Source, Visual, or Dashboard in Envisio Analytics 

1. Navigate to the component you wish to clone.
2. Click on the three dots to the right of your avatar on the header bar.
3. Select Clone.
4. By default, the component name will inherit the source component's name, appended with the word 'Copy'. We recommend that you change it to a name that suits you. 

 

Each component offers a different set of options during cloning. Here is a list of available options: 

Data Source Cloning Options

Include Cell Data - Enabled by default. This option duplicates all the existing cell data in the data source to the new data source.

Include Reminder - Data source reminder helps ensure timely data entry to your data source. If this is currently set up on your data source, you can choose to clone it to the new data source.

Include Sharing Permissions - You can choose to clone all the Share settings to your new data source.

Copy as Manual Data Source - When cloning transformation type data sources, you can use this option to clone as a stand-alone data source. 

Visual Cloning Options

Change Data Source - This option enables you to choose a different data source when cloning visuals. Following the selection of the new data source, you will need to map existing visual elements such as Series, X and Y Axis, etc., to the new data source columns.

Enable Plans Linking - When enabled, the visual is available to be associated with plan elements in the Plans module. When cloning a visual, you have the opportunity to turn on Plans Linking regardless of the setting in the original visual.

Include Sharing Permissions - You can choose to clone all the Share settings to your new data source.
