Roll-up reporting is a core Envisio feature that aggregates the Status, Progress and optionally commentaries from the lowest planning levels through the planning hierarchy. Roll-up reporting ensures that the information provided to management and stakeholders is timely and true as it accurately reflects the state of the plan's deliverables.
How Does it Work?
Roll-up reporting begins at the lowest planning level (Action) and it displays as an aggregate at each ascending level in the planning hierarchy. So at each of the higher planning levels, one will be able to see an overall status and progress summary. Let's take a look at an example plan of 3 levels:

At the lowest planning level of Action, the Owner/Contributor provides an update on their deliverable providing a Status (marking it with either On Track, Some Disruption, Major Disruption or Completed), Progress and Commentary.
The parent Strategy's Status and Progress is a roll-up from the underlying Actions thus it automatically reflects the new Action update. When the Strategy manager provides an update, they are providing a commentary which as a management best-practice, they will review all Actions' commentaries and then provide a summary of progress for that Strategy.
At the Goal level, the Status and Progress reflects all underlying Actions' update as a result of the roll-up. Similar to the Strategy level, the Goal manager's update involves summarizing at a high level the progress for that Goal based on reviewing all the Strategies' commentaries.
In order for managers at the Goal and Strategy levels to be able to review progress, timely and consistently formatted updates need to be entered starting at the lowest level. To help save you time Envisio allows you to automate scheduled update requests (set up Reporting Dates) for each planning level. This drives timely updates at each level which is important when there are scheduled status reports (eg. Executive or Council Reports) or Public Dashboard refresh, which depends on up-to-date data.
