There may be cases where an existing project may have similar tasks as a new project. Instead of rebuilding the project from scratch, why not duplicate it?
Duplicating a project in Envisio involves a few straightforward steps. Here's how you can do it:
- Navigate to the Projects page
-
Create from Existing Project: Click on the '+Create From Existing Project' button
-
Define your new Project: This screen will allow you to define your new project based on an existing project, enter in:
- New Project Name
- Project Owner
- Source Project: choose the existing project already set up in Envisio
- New start and end date: by default, the system will pull in the start and end of the source project
- The toggles on the right allow additional properties to be duplicated, by default they are all toggle off. The options are to Include Contributors & Observers, Tags, Update History, Custom Fields, Map Location and Tasks
- When 'Include Tasks' is toggled on additional options to include dependencies, subtasks, subtask owners, task owners and task contributors and observers can be chosen
- When 'Include Tasks' is toggled on additional options to include dependencies, subtasks, subtask owners, task owners and task contributors and observers can be chosen
- Select Submit: The user will be prompted to confirm that they want to duplicate a project. If required information is missing, the system will prompt the user to fill it in
You will then be directed back to the Project listing page where the Project will be created. After duplication, make sure to update any project-specific details, such as team members, permissions, deadlines, and resources.
Tips:
- Check for Dependencies: If your original project had dependencies, make sure they are correctly duplicated.
- Update Timelines: Duplicated projects often need their timelines adjusted to fit the new context.
- Communicate with Team Members: Inform your team about the new project and any changes relevant to them.
