Create new Projects in Envisio in five easy steps!
- Click Projects Planning in the sidebar navigation.
- In the Projects listing page, click + New Project at top right.
- Select your Project Template. Note that currently, admins can define settings like status reminders, status templates, phases etc. at the template level. For more, please see How To: Manage Project templates
- Enter required fields for your project (highlighted green, below):
- Project Name will be visible publicly via your Projects dashboard, so be sure to use a name that will make sense to your community and constituents, and clearly identifies the project. Envisio recommends defining and following a naming convention for all Projects.
- Description will also be visible on your Projects dashboard. Enter a clear, concise description that details the project itself, along with any other relevant details that may apply. This field supports formatting.
-
Owner is the person ultimately responsible for the progression of the project. This value will not be visible on your Projects dashboard, but is the person who will be responsible for management of the project internally.
Contributors and Observers can be added in this area as well. These are not required roles, but can be helpful in managing the project and internal processes. -
Start and End Dates must be entered for every project. End date will be visible on your Projects dashboard.
- Complete additional project details, map, and custom fields as needed (highlighted orange, below):
- Risk Status will be tied to Plan Status if your project is linked to an Envisio plan. This value will be visible on your Projects dashboard, should you choose to set a value, and contributes to overall progress on the dashboard if included.
- Priority allows you to define priority of projects. This does not display on your Projects dashboard, but is a sortable column in your Projects listing page, for internal project management efforts.
- Project Phase is defined universally, across all projects. Select this value to publicly display the current phase of a project on your Projects dashboard, and help to manage projects internally.
- Budget and Budget Spent are included on your Projects dashboard and allow you to calculate percent of projects on-budget vs not.
- Map allows you to display geographic location of a project on a map within your Projects dashboard. Simply search for the location and drop a pin to define the map location to display on the dashboard.
-
Custom Fields are defined universally, across all Projects. Click Add to include and define custom field values based on the needs of your organization.
- One your Project configuration is complete, click Save.
